The Ben Orr Sound: How do You Get It?

I have a Fender Blacktop P-bass (meaning 2 humbuckers) and 2 Boss pedals: a limiter/enhancer and a CEB-3 chorus. I also have a small, 60-watt Fender practice amp with a mid-cut switch.

Your challenge, fellow TalkBass person. is to take these ingredients and use them to come up with at least an approximation of Ben Orr's general sound. You don't have to use every ingredient, either. If he never really used chorus or a limiter, well....

use the bass with a pick, with the amp turned on. practice arpeggios in all keys and be able to play them up a single string, two strings, etc.

with a metronome


and use the pedals as trade currency for an octave divider like the oc-2, but only use it on a few tracks
