The Best 5 String Bass?

ello fellows, i've got a schecter elite 4 right now and have been thinking about trading it in for a 5 string, whats the best 5 string in your opinion?

Edit: I'm willing to spend maybe a max of 700 USD

do you like your Schecter? The Studio 5 is very nice for under $700.

For under $700, Yamaha probably. Most of the ones I've tried have a really decent B-string.

But there really are so many. G&L Tribute might be another way to go. Maybe a used Carvin.

i love my schecter. i was thinking about studio 5 as well, apparantly the body is physically the same except for a difference in bridge, bolt neck, and i have a feeling neck width.

My only tiff with schecter so far is the lack of warmth, but i love the versatility it lends. I'm looking for a good medium.

I have a Schecter 5 Elite. The neck-thru makes it a little warmer and it sustains like a beast. I paid around $600 for it.

i might change the electronics, but the neck is VERY fast if you like that sort of thing.

theres the Jazz V and the DELUXE jazz V

the more notable differences being the deluxe models are active, are slightly smaller, use pao ferro for the fingerboard, a little fancier looking (abalone inlays) and use different hardware/pickups.

the deluxe one can be tricky to find in five string. it might have been discontinued as of 2008, but im no sure.

if you like an active bass check out the deluxe models
if you like a more traditional passive jazz bass, check out the standard MIA (or MIM is fine if you are on a budget) jazz V

i looked for some good links but i failed in that search.. you should be able to find such a bass at your local guitar center though.

=] funny that you mention that. i intend on getting an ibanez SR500 as the next in my buys if i end up with a 5 string. I figured that the SR500 would be a better 4 string than 5 string because of the amazing tone and feel it has. it just feels right with 4.
