The best fender precision for stoner/doom/rock '70?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the fact that bands named bongzilla and weedeater are NOT listed under stoner rock pretty damn funny

Yeah... Like i said, there's so much overlap that labels for this genre are superfluous.

I actually saw Weedeater and Bongzilla together a few years ago and to this day (and even seeing bands like SunnO))), Grief, Earth and Floor) it was the loudest show i have ever seen.

But anyways.... I'll just mention again how much the stoner/doom community LOVES the Ibanez Soundgear basses. They love em.

The Fender Highway One Precision is perfect for Stoner/Doom. A couple of bands that also need to be mentioned are Cathedral, Fireball Ministry, and Orange Goblin.

my MIA Jazz wired in series sounds great for stoner/doom. It basically sounds like a heavier and louder P bass now. Here's a list of the typical stoner/doom basses:QUOTE]

+1 ala Dan Maines of Clutch before they got all blues and he started rocking gibsons.

Ric's work if you can dig the neck...i cant so i go P Bass!

check out Nick Oliveri's P Bass collection, especially that sunburst/maple/red tort one he rocks in the No one knows video..sick

i dig the sound of stoner rock so i use a P for it when thats the itch im trying to scratch...but its only part of the equation..next step is your amp..tube, the whole tube and nothing but the tube..and pick an amp that maxs out at your typical playing volume, the key is saturation. as for cabs i find 1 4x10 and 1 1x15 w a horn gives a perfect mix of low end and puchnch in the throat. add big muff and i personally keep an old pro co rat (guitar) laying around for a mix of fuzz and crunch when needed.

I've found that the best Reggae-esque stoner sound would come from a p-bass with flats, and some foam by the bridge if you wanna get crazy
