He didn't use an EB-0; I haven't put him down for using one. I said he used an EB-1. Easy mistake to make! And no, he didn't use an EB-3L. I just grouped it and the standard EB-3 together as they're pretty much the same, save for the neck.Jack Bruce never used a EB0 or played EB3L to the best of my knowledge.
Wait, Jack used a black-pickup one? Do you have any pics? (I'm really interested now!)To be fair, I think Jack Bruce would be much more associated with the black cover EB-3 than the EB-1. He used a few different early-60s EB-3s, the first was a black cover one with a 3 way toggle, and then I believe there were two silver-cover wide spaced models. He used the EB-1 for the reunion in 2005 (as well as the BBM album).
For EB-1, I'd say the user most associated with it is Felix Pappalardi of Mountain.

Yeah, early EB-3 ('61-'62) featured the same black bakelite cover as used on all the EB lines, but painted silver, thus possible confusion as to users using a black cover or silver cover. This silver paint would eventually flake off, leaving the black cover. From some point in '62 until '65, the EB-3s had Nickel plated pup covers, and thereafter Chrome hardware.
You can see the deteriorating state of the silver paint in the below photos.

Andy Fraser also had an EB-3 with the painted pickup.
