Thank you so much for the kudo's J, I haven't been around to much lately but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things.
Those St Blues are killer basses, I alway's say they are the bassworlds best kept secret and can still be had for around 5-700 bucks, I have owned the sunburst one since it was bran new in 82, I sold Rics, Fenders, T-Birds you name it but that bass has alwyas stayed with me. There is just something about it and the Tone is to DIE for.
The black one I just got from Zoomboy and it's quickly becomming my main playa.

I just got a 1986 Carvin V440T off eBay.

Maple set neck, maple body, ebony fretboard, mother of pearl inlays, brass nut, Kahler bass tremolo, passive electronics with M22B humbucking p'ups, two coil splitters, pickup selector, two volumes and tone, black with black chrome hardware. I added Dunlop Straploks as soon as I got it.

Yeah, I had a hair-band flashback.

It's almost identical to my first bass which was an '87 V440T, black with chrome hardware. I've regretted selling it almost since the day I gave it up. Always wanted to replace it.

I'm pretty happy overall with my current collection, but I probably spend the most time playing either my MTD, Cirrus, Roscoe, Zon fretted, and Lakland. Other than that, I love the Geddy J and the '83 P, but they don't get as much air time. The Ibanez is just a beater bass for beer throwin' frat gigs, and the Martin ABG is for occasional gatherings in the living room with good friends.

Cool, thx. Yeah, I think I like the MTD a bit better, too. Main thing about the MTD's (broken record here) is their unbelievable clarity and usability of the EQ. If you ever get the chance, and haven't yet, check one out! They're very unique and versatile at the same time.

Those are some NICE basses... I'm a sucker for MTDs... but you have TOO MANY STRINGS!!!

I don't understand why so many people like 6 and 7 string basses (or even 5 for that matter but I can see where they come in handy), but then again, whatever floats your boats! I only need 4.

One thing is sure, if play some metal like Children of Bodom, you won't be able to reach the lower notes except if your E string has the wonderful ability to be tuned down to B!

True which is why i think 5 strings are fine... but 6 strings? I dont like. I find 6 strings to be lazy-inducing. I know this topic has been discussed to death, but out of all people who own a 6 string, how many use the extra 5 or so notes it opens up, up high? Im sure its handy for keeping your hand still in runs and stuff, but i tihnk anything that high is guitar territory.

I kind of agree with you. I tried 6 and 7 strings basses and I did not really like it. The neck is so damn wide!

But hey, different people, different styles, different basses!
