The Comprehensive MTD USA Maintenance Thread

Howdy,

I thought this might be of interest for those who have an "older" MTD. Actually mine is #572 built in 2001 or late 2000 (I forget).

The spaces in between the G and D strings on the bridge pick up got a lot of visible wear, and I wanted to smooth it out. Here's the details of the remedy:

Make sure you tape the gaps between the bass and the PUs real good. :)

Got my hands on my first (used) MTD 535-24, so it's time to revive this thread .

What products do you use to clean up your MTD's body, neck and fretboards?

I'm not familiar with catalyzed urethane topcoat, nor can I tell whether the birdseye maple fingerboard is finished or unfinished due to all the gunk currently sitting on it, so I want to make sure I have all the right tools and know what's safe to use on it before I start deep cleaning it. Tips from past or current MTD owners are most welcome!
