I think that my definition of cool is very different from some of yours....

I can't seem to find a good picture of him, but Dougie from Travis is the dude. He doesn't need tights, or big hair, shiny cothes, tats or studs or a bare chest to look cool. Despite a massive nose, he manages to pull of the vintage/modern/euro look with great style, He plays a rack of great looking vintage fenders, and has the moves to groove on stage. Even though he is the bassist, he has the women's attention whenever he wants it.

I finally got a chance to see them live last year, and I was like that cat is what a rock and roll bass player should be.

This isn't about the music, but I must mention his less is more playing style lives in the pocket and never fails....

...He certainly hasn't put any effort into a "persona". He looks like he just served me coffee at Java Hut...
So again, what is the definition of "cool" as is germaine to this thread?
Well I'd say Tony Levin. ..And yes, it IS partly because I admire him, but one reason I DO is because When I've seen him perform (live and on video), his movements and expressions -- the way he 'carries himself' is just so comfortable and musical and joyful! He looks like there can be no doubt exactly where he should be and what he should be doing right then - and it makes me feel that way too. ...like a sense of providence revealed, Man.
