Now "that" makes sense. I mean a 4 string stingray is great as is and shouldn't be messed with. Now a 5 string stingray is BARELY wide enough for 5 and 4 strings would be a nice improvement. But that wheel has already been invented.

I never realized the 3 string was for the funk fingers. That makes a lot of sense. Funk fingers look easy and fun but are in fact incredibly awkward. That extra spacing would help a lot. Sadly the Expanding Hands company which made them forever closed only last year I think. The nice thing about how they made them was that they coated them in some kind of rubber which helps tame the extreme amount of treble they generate. I grabbed a few pairs before they closed down. You think you're going to strap them on and play Big Time, then you try them and it feels like your first time playing bass lol.

Speaking as someone who started on drums, I have some suggestions for those considering some DIY Funk Fingers;

1. Hickory sticks. They're fairly light and are okay on the durability front. As much as I like oak drumsticks, which are tough as nails and can really deliver a good impact, I could see them get tiresome rather quickly, even the thin diameter ones.
2. Thinnest diameter for the same reasons above. Something like a 7A or so should do.
3. Taking a page out of the @IronLung1986 playbook, rubber dipped or something with a no-slip coating could do well to keep the "clang!" at bay. Plus, it might help them rebound off the strings a little better than finished wood.

Bear in mind, I've never made myself a set of Funk Fingers, but if I did, I would probably take all of the above ideas and go with either of these. Which ones would simply depend on the color I wanted.

I reached out to EB many years ago to see if they would sell a 3-string, or just a bridge, or whatever. They said no.

I thought it would be cool to put a Hipshot on it and have EAD then pop down to DAD.
