The Fender Bassman 100T thread

I think there's no reason to assume that all knobs at noon is flat on the active channel. That setting is seldom flat on any amp, in my experience. Tom did state that the flat settings on the active channel would be in the article they're doing.

Cheers,
Liam

Then I guess instrument amplifier manufacturers go way outside the box compared to the rest of the indusgtry, as the center-detent position on the eq of any other piece of audio gear is the flat setting. That's the reason the detent is there.

Many manufacturers seem to bake in an eq curve at the "flat" settings of bass amps. GK is a great example of this. "Flat" on the amp is actually fairly mid-scooped.

OK. If anyone out there in TB-land is reading this thread and on the fence: Assuming you have the scratch, don't hesitate. Buy one.

Mine arrived yesterday and though I won't gig with it until Sat. 1/18, it's pretty clear during my time with it so far at home that I've been messing around with solid states and hybrids for too long. The articulation of every note with the 100T, the sheer impact, the warmth... well, it's the proverbial sound I've been hearing in my head.

I still like my Genz Benz Streamliner 900 and will use it sometimes, but I can see already it's instantly been relegated to backup status to the 100T. Again, we'll see how it does at the gig, but I couldn't be happier so far. And I've been playing on the 25W setting. The 100W is just too much in my house... literally shakes the windows.

I hadn't thought a tube amp was possible for me these days because of the weight. I'm 52 and though I'm in decent shape physically, I'm just not willing to lug an 80-pound amp. The 50-pound 100T is totally doable, however, and, so far anyway, seems sent from bass heaven.
