The Fender Jazz Bass Club Part Seven!!!

Well, as long as I got a number now...... Might as well get another.
2, 76 Jazz basses in 10 days.
I just picked up the Olympic white bass today.
I actually played that one before I got the sunburst last week.
The sunburst was a much better deal. Completely original/stock.
The white one was far from it. But it was at the local Guitar Center......
Came with Schaller tuners, a Badass bridge and ugh.... EMG's 🤢
The push over the edge was it came with a Hipshot Detuner.
I would NEVER put one of those on a vintage Fender, but if it's already on there....
It did have the original wiring harness in the case as well as the bridge cover.
What kind of pickups should I put in the Olympic White???

I'm picturing a set of Delano JMVC4 FE/M2 split-coils in my head…the ones with the big Stingray-style slugs. Not only does the one I have in a J/MM bass sound pretty damn good, but having something with big humbucker poles in a bass made the same year MusicMan debuted is a tasty dose of irony! 😁

There are others I dig. I'm a fan of both Bartolini B-Axis and Fender Custom Shop '60s, but that's just a personal preference. I'm also curious about what a set of DiMarzio Sixties Jazzes would sound like, since the P/J set I have is very nice.

So, what kind of sound would you like to get out of it and how much do you want it to sound like your Sunburst '76, if at all?

My sunburst sounds amazing!! Those are the original.
It's not like I'm trying to get the Olympic White back to original state.
I will never spend the money to get a 76 set of tuners.
But I'm in a position where after todays purchase, I'm watching my pennies 💸 until I can recoup some funds

Fender PV74's for the win. They aren't as commonly had as they used to be but they still come up for sale. I have a set in my Bond Girl bass. I've used it on many recordings - including these two ...

All those great. Nordstrand nj4sv are top rank as well.

Seymour Duncan classic stacks are a really nice sounding choice. I have them in one of mine and they might be my favorites. Great original sounding tone and noiseless to boot. Nice acquisitions, btw.

I gotta say: History Repeating is sick.....the vocals are above par, and your bass is solid and funky. The stuff you are playing in line with her initial vocals is sick as f**k. The rest of the song is so good. Y'all gotta let that vocalist know how badass she is and how much y'all need her around. Y'all are tight and sick as all get out.

Much thanks :) - yah, Cherie's very gifted and also works hard to hone her gift. I've been a part of BG for 11yrs and we strive to be 'professional' in attitude even as we're serious amateurs.

Don’t think I ever shared my two J’s.

Should be the same except for finish, but the white one is really growly and aggressive, while the green one is really balanced and pretty sounding. Odd how that happens. Pickup height and strings exactly the same.
