The Fraternal Twin ...

Wow ... way over due progress update!

Bridge and pickup fitted
Recessed strap locks installed.
Bridge ground, pickup wire and control cavity "hole" drilled. Drilling the two intersecting blind holes was not fun, but I like the clean look of no cavity cover.

No electronics on this one. The Nordstrand Big Split is getting wired straight to the jack. There is room in the control cavity "hole" to add a cap if I need to tame the high end.

The body is ready for the final sanding and finishing.

There is a 7/8" dia. x 2" deep hold behind the jack. Drilling that was a PITA. In hindsight, I should have made a fixture so I could have used the drill press, but since I wasn't sure I would want to do this again, I decided to just do it by hand (i.e. cordless drill). Other than not being centered on the body thickness, it turned out ok.

I had to square off the corners for the bridge recess. The first bridge I had (for another bass) fit perfectly. This one had interference in the corners which caused a gap at the front of the bridge. Both recesses were made with the same template. I think Hipshot may have changed the dimension on that radius. Next time, I'll check the bridge before routing the recess.
