so basically, $45,000 for a un-comfortable beat-up piece of crap?![]()
This is the bass equivilent of an original, unmolested, unrestored '67 L88 Corvette coming up for sale.
If you don't get it, nothing I can say is going to make you understand.

Looking at the Who page he links to, the one John is pictured with has three knobs, where the one for sale has only two. Were all 20 made the same? If so, this may not be one or has been modded.
look at the decal on the headstock...
DODGY!
even if I had it, there's NO WAY, I'm going to send ANYONE $45K on ebay!
when people sell things online for this much, they should be photographed and fingerprinted FIRST!
The true horror of this auction is the HORRENDOUS layout of his BOGUS advertising and layouts of his photos.
If I gotta scroll sideways just to read your stupid propagandic auction, you are NOT a professional, you are NOT trustworthy, you are a pathetic N00B and I hold you as lowly on the social totem pole as the ******** high school girlies posting twenty-five Youtube links to Justin Timberlake videos and tragically bringing my computer to a gridlocked lagged screeching halt.
I despise morons like this who can't lay out a web page logically and aesthetically pleasing. It's like downing a bottle of Jagermeister and then watching American Idol with 3D glasses on. BRAIN DAMAGINGLY PAINFUL.

You might as well save your breath. People around here don't get it. They don't understand the difference between a true rarity and a P from the GC down the street.

Listen, I could give a crap what people have to say about the price but you people need to respect that bass. That is a true rarity, a custom limited-run Fender back when there was no Custom Shop, and you're not very likely to see another one going on sale any time in the next few years.
Plus Gary Glitter may have been a one-hit wonder in America and a filthy sex pervert now, but in England and Europe he was about as big as it gets at one time. Do I think the bass player for Gary Glitter will get $45,000 for it? Probably not. It's not a star guitar, like if Entwistle owned it. But it is a part of European rock history and has been used on many hits, and I wouldn't be surprised if the guy sold it for $25,000.

yeah, i'm more into what's practical/useful.... not so much into "collectors" items. I guess everybody has there niche.![]()
nope...i don't get the original '67 L88 vette either...
to me..it's about the music, not the gear.
I can appreciate good gear...but would rather own a dozen USA Laklands over one $45K Fender...
that's me...others may differ.
I'm not a Fender fan, yet I will agree with this! This is the bass equivilent of an original, unmolested, unrestored '67 L88 Corvette coming up for sale.
