Hello Ladies and Gents,
Just joined your fine club and i was happy to do so. I have been playing bass in the past 10 years, gigging (paid or not), jamming and do whatever regarding sound and bass reinforcement.
I'd like to share some information that you may or may not know regarding frequencies.
Generally, the standard range of audible frequencies (for humans) 20-20000Hz. Anything below 20Hz is felt rather than heard. 16-32Hz is the human threshold of feeling (1st octave). 32-512Hz, the rhythm frequencies where lower and upper bass frequencies lie (2nd to 5th octave).
So, my fellow bass players that's where we at. At the bottom. One more interesting thing that people don't really think about. Before we even born, our mother's heart beat falls into the low frequencies category.
We came to this world with the low end engraved into our brain without even knowing it...
Enjoy
