Just thought I would post and see if it gets a ping...

I sold a Phil Kubicki - Fender Replacement Jazz Bass
neck on Ebay in October of 2004...
It was maple with maple board and vintage style frets.

UPS "lost it" in a Texas routing hub:eek:
They acknowledged they lost it (eventually) and
paid the claim - so I could refund the poor buyers
money...

But I figured it must have resurfaced somehow
someway - Anybody in the Texas area see anybody
with a 1984 Phil Kubicki all-maple J bass neck added
to his axe in the past few years?

I am guessing in UPS must auction or sell off the stuff
they eventually "find":ninja:

Not like these are common or that many out there - it
would be one of a few in any part of the country!

Ouch.

I'm wondering the going price is for a neck like that?

I just e mailed Phil for a quote on a fretless neck for my old Ex-Factor. $900. I could have picked up a used fretless Factor here last week for $895 shipped.

This one was not a Factor neck - it was a "made for Fender"
neck - would fit any Fender type body, 4 screw setup
single action truss rod 20 fret. These necks were
"the ****" back then for a Fender bass or guitar:smug:
in the early 80's NOTHING could beat them...
I used to work the pro shop back then and ESP Warmoth
Allparts and many others were making nice stuff - but
Kubicki's was the best - Warmoth offered more options
but they could not make a neck as vintage feeling with
the sound and lightness of those necks.:scowl:

I still like my Kubicki rosewood board Jazz neck better than
my USA Custom pau ferro board Jazz neck - even tho'
the USA Custom is a very lovely neck... Maybe when it
ages in and has 25 years on it like the Kubicki...

Apparently UPS, Fedex and perhaps others uses a company called Recovery Management Corporation to "fence" the goods they "find". RMC uses a company called Cargo Largo to auction these items. Check Ebay for Cargo Largo...you might eventually see your "lost" stuff. The shipping companies don't publicize this, since they don't wish to admit that they lose a lot of items.
