Lefty bassist with basses strung righty baffles me. Great playing though.
I think this dude would have fit in with the Mothers of Invention. Very out of the box kinda playing.
I know that there are a few mandolin players on this forum who will notice that the mandolin player looks like none other than Sierra Hull.
I absolutely love her playing, especially rhythm. Much like Sam Bush, just drives the song.
She was great with Bela Fleck on his bluegrass tour a couple weeks ago. But then again, every musician was.
I've seen Cory Wong (with Sonny T on bass of course) twice - once a year or two ago with Sierra Hull, and once this year with Victor Wooten. Both times the band just KILLED IT!! Crazy tight, fantastic playing, great horn section, and they just look like they are having a blast. Two of the most enjoyable shows I've seen, maybe ever, you can't help but walk out smiling. If you haven't seen them, go see them.
I know one of those. He says he likes it strung that way.

He taught little Prince (then 16, Sonny was a bit older) how to play bass, and I'm so glad Cory wanted to have him in his band.
Thanks for posting this. I never heard of these guys. They are all very talented, and creative, and it looks like they have a lot of fun doing what they do, and I bet attending one of their shows would be also be a combination of fun, entertaining, and maybe a little eye opening in regards to bass playing.

Sorry he wasn't with Corey on The Dave Koz Cruise last May , he would have seriously been a bright spot .
One of my favorite bassists does this - Bent Sæther of the Norwegian psychedelic prog rock band Motorpsycho. He's a lefty but had a hard time finding proper left-handed instruments when he was learning, so he just flipped right handed ones over and played them upside down. Now he gets custom ones made that are left handed with a reverse nut, like this one:
Anyway, I reckon that most of the time a left handed player does this it's just for those same practical reasons.
