This turned up in a recommended search on Ebay and I had to share the laugh...

A wee bit redundant, no?

I dunno- I think any double-neck is going to compromise the position of one or both *instruments* as well as end up way heavy, but I could see where it'd be handy to have a 4 for a slight edge in playability(for me)& a 5 for the lower notes/range in a given position.
If this is the most absurd bass you've ever seen though, you must not get out much. ;)

agree 7string, but if it had a little more practical purpose it may never have wound up here for us to see. Then I couldn't be a smartass and work would be so much more boring. I just can't imagine having to continue to offer my opinion on rosewood boards, sunburst finishes, or whether brand X is crap or the greatest thing ever on every thread.

Pretty much every bass I've seen Bootsy Colins play has been more obsurd than that one.

On a bit of a side note I always thought it would be awesome if you had a power trio where both guitarists played double neckers, one neck a guitar and one a bass, maby make one guys bas neck a fretless for good measure. Besides the fun of randomly switching necks just to keep the audience guessing who's playing what the possiblilitys are MIND BLOWING! :bassist: Harmonizing bass solos anyone?
