Double Bass The New Acoustic Image Clarus+ Series 4

Fran,
The Ehrlund needs an external pre amp due to it's design, I've used the pickup sucessfully with either the Headway EDB-2 or the Ehrlund Pre Amp. You won't get enough gain, running the pickup directly into an amplifier, and the tone quality will also be weird.
I've run it that way and it's less than satisfying. It isn't like a Realist or Full Circle.

Ric
Ric, the fact is that it worked just fine with the older Contra.

Then you might need to invest in the Ehrlund or a Headway preamp.

Yeah, probably going with the Ehrlund since the AI pre is flexible enough and everybody says that the EAP sounds so much better with its own preamp.

I was just very interested in knowing how the original poster on this thread plugged his EAP to the Clarus. Don Sibley, are you there?

UPDATE:

My friend lent me his AI Contra again and the problem persisted, exactly as it happens with the new Coda S4PLUS but then, when I was taking off the EAP from my bass to pack it I did a last test with a weird result: I tacked it to the bass using the tack on the side with the Ehrlund logo (which means upside down) and although I don’t think it sounds as full and loud as it used to work with these particular amps (AI Contra and AI Clarus), now I’m getting a much louder/better signal into the amp. I will keep experimenting along the weekend to see what happens. I will keep you informed. I have also contacted Ehrlund to give them this new information and see if they can think of something without sending the EAP to Sweden.
