Thanks Man. It is really nice to hear someone say that rather than being negative (about spending so much on a bass). As I said earlier, I know that I am very fortunate, yes I have worked hard, but there are an awful lot of people that do all the right things and still don't get to the point of affording a Fodera.

Congratulations on the new Lull! Play it in good health.

Fantastic description! I am sooo looking forward to those clips.

I have a holly and ebony (black and white) Yin Yang with EMGs... so I am very curious about the sonic differences.

Like you, I have a light touch with my finger style playing, and LOVE how articulate it is.

In fact, I got a call last week to see if I could sit in for a sick (as in ill) bass player for a gig that was starting in 2 hours. They were really in a spot (and had charts), so I said yes. Normally I bring my 6 string F-Bass to new things, it's kind of a security blanket for me, but they had a black and white clothing and instrument thing going on, so I (naturally) brought my Fodera Yin Yang 4. I got tons of positive comments on my tone.

At the end, a singer commented that my bass was a Yin Yang symbol and the rest of the band went, "Ohhh! Yeah!" The drummer said, "that's a crazy paint job." Of course I couldn't just let that stand, and I just HAD to show them the grain and explain the woods.

I prefer "black and white" Yin Yang symbols as well, but at least you will probably never have your bass's look mistaken for a "crazy" paint job.

Anyway, congrats. I'm hoping George can work a miracle for me as well by the way!

You have just the right perspective on this, IMO, and I commend you for that. No negativity from me. I'm much more of a traditionalist, in terms of tone and looks, but I can certainly appreciate your bass; it's a work of art. Congrats on getting the bass of your dreams, play the heck out of it in good health.:bassist:

I like your attitude too, and congratulations on a fantastic looking bass! The one thing to remember that is "doing all the rights" is no guarrantee that you will have what someone else has. Just think about all the hard working and decent people in Haiti who can't buy a bowl of rice, let an SX!:(

Remember, we should all be grateful for we have. That is why "Thou Shalt not covet" was one of the Ten Commandments.:cool:

Oh man! This thing is gorgeous! I have wanted a Fodera so bad since I was about 16 and I am totally jealous of you. One day, I will get mine, but until then I will wait for my new stambaugh. It isn't a Fodera, but it bears a striking resemblance to one. Congrats on a truly amazing bass.

Congratulations on obtaining such a beautiful instrument.

My only philosophy in terms of buying basses is to really learn to play your basses. I don't think I'll ever part with my Ibanez as it doesn't restrict me at all physically and I've had it long enough to coax tones out of it that I can't get out of any other bass simply due to the attention I've paid to it. I can't see myself playing better on anything else, and for that reason I have more or less no intention of going into the the world of high-end and custom basses. It's more about me than the bass, and I play best on this instrument.

You say this bass is the nicest you've ever played, and I hope that you can give it the time it deserves so that you can really help it sing.

It definitely is the finest playing bass I have ever played and I have been spending a great deal of time getting to know its nuances and abilities. Since I have gotten it I would say that I play it 75% of the time and rotate my other 3 bases through the remaining 25% (I wish I could play more, but I only get to play around 10 hours a week).

I will try to post some video and/or sound clips sometime in early June. My schedule has been nuts and when I am tight on time, playing and practice time trumps Talk Bass and related stuff! Cheers.
