Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.I have only used the parallel "bright clean highs" position occasionally for recording. In band context always in series.
I do love these pickups though.

Is anyone using this on a 6-string? Seems like there would be very little overlap between the coils. Would that be an issue for him cancelling?
Thanks. Yes, I'm thinking the P46. I'm actually wondering the opposite -- if the halves of the pickup almost don't overlap (for more coverage) does that affect the hum cancelling?
Volume aside, I find that adjusting the height brings different aspects of the sound into focus - closer isn't always better (though I used to think so, years ago).I’ve had a P46 laying around for about a year, finally popped it into a fretless Warmoth P I put together a few years ago. Wow. These pickups definitely don’t need help in the volume department! I had them cranked pretty low to keep them out of the way while getting things set up, expecting I’d need to raise them but no.
Tonally, like a P-bass but just more balance/detail/whatever you want to call it. Sounds great, I like it a lot more than the EMG it replaced.
Two thumbs up from me!
Could you explain the the steps required for conversion?Apples and oranges.
There are two “standard” five-string P pickup formats. One uses equal-length coils; the other does not.

Like you said, cut a new PG to fit the shorter treble coil.Could you explain the the steps required for conversion?
How are those pickups treating you? I've had my eye on them for a while, but the lack of samples/reviews has dissuaded me.Just dropped a set of j45 into a Sadowsky 5 string. Full report to come after a few gigs but they are definitely quiet as far as hum/buzz goes
