This beauty just popped up for sale locally, can anyone help me identify the model? The electronics and hardware are all changed out and the controls originally only had the three potentiometers, no switch. I'm thinking an older Made in Japan Dinky Bass, the DKB-075 is close but has the wrong inlays.
It's a later model 575 Deluxe with the shorter headstock and modded controls. They cam with vol-switch-tone stock. The earlier models had the long Charvel headstock.
The DKB-075 was a short scale bass.
Here's a story about how small the world really is and how I bought my first Charvel by Jackson / Charvel bass. Full spec-listing at the end!
In late June me and my colleague noticed that a local shop had gone bankrupt. Being the bargain hunter I am, I immediately went searching through auction sites for their bankruptcy auction but instead I found this. Our national Lost & Found agency was auctioning a "Charvel active electric bass" due to it having been there the required 3 months and not picked up by the owner. There was no other information in the ad, but with the serial number and some serious googling I was able to track this bass to a Reverb ad in Armenia, 5 years ago.
At that point the bass was in its original condition with chrome hardware, just three potentiometers, a few dings and the stock pickups. It was listed as a "2001 Dinky Bass", but I didn't think that was accurate. I thought that someone probably ordered this bass through that ad to Finland and then went to town with it by swapping out all the hardware for high quality parts. Then they probably had a bad night and forgot it somewhere where it was then sent to the Lost & Found. I felt bad for the previous owner, but decided to put my bid in anyway. If someone spotted their bass through my socials, I could always sell it back to them if they reimbursed me for the costs associated.
I won the auction with a bid of 430€ and when I got the bass it was in absolute mint condition. No bag or case of any kind though and only one strap lock attached at the bottom. I recorded a cover with it and posted some pics to my social media. I was a bit afraid someone would come forward and telling me that was their bass, because it was such a killer instrument and then I received a message from my friend.
"Hey, is that bass actually the same instrument as in this ad", they asked and sent me a link to a Reverb ad in France, 2 years ago. It was the same bass with all the upgrades done, all the damage matched as well. It was listed as a "1991 Concert Bass" this time, which I think is more accurate. Turns out my friend actually bought the bass from that ad 2 years ago, but the tracking stopped updating after the package left France. After months of back & forth, both the seller and my friend got their money back through insurance and Reverb. I guess the original package was damaged enough so that all the shipping information was ripped off and then it lied in a storage somewhere waiting for someone to do something to it. At some point it was brought to the Lost & Found where I found it, in exactly the same condition as it was in the pictures from the seller.
I'm super relieved that no one lost any money in this whole ordeal (except me) and I got a brand new bass that's just absolutely killer instrument
This will see a lot of use on my channel, maybe even live at some point!

Yup, the body is definitely 575/4b but this is a short headstock for a 4b.
I used to see this exact model in a catalog but can't find it. It was early 90s. Same as a short-head 575 but without the toothpaste logo. Then someone has modified the control layout.
I keep forgetting that a lot of these pictures are not bound for the USA and export only so it could be a later model yes as they used the short head and old logo past what we were offered.
Yup. Iirc these had chrome hardware but I can't find it in a catalogue anywhere. The last time I saw one, it was on a Russian classified site lol.
Chrome hardware would fit! The earliest I've seen this bass it had all chrome hardware. The Jackson/Charvel models are super confusing hahah
Hi, just discovering the world of Jackson basses. This one looks interesting but I know nothing about it. It's listed as a Jackson Spectra bass, but it's clearly nothing to do with the current Indonesian lineup. Could
this be a vintage Japanese made instrument? It has two plus two headstock with Jackson script instead of the current J. Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much. I ordered it. Been in the mood for something different lately. Strangely, C4J turns up next to nothing on a Google search. I wanted something different - I guess I got it!

Well I sure came to the right place! What's it like and how does it sound. I'm guessing fairly lightweight and well balanced...
they also made a p-j model called c-20 Yes small body, lightweight, the DuncanDesigned pickups in the c4 are standard sized so they can be replaced if you don't like them
