That also reinforces the black pickguard screws on a black pickguard as being a moral and cosmetic imperative. Even though there arent any in the picture. Its just science.
Well, they do tie in with the knobs, so don't 'fret' much.

Parts bass - the (?) body is light ash and the maple/maple neck might have been an SX that I redefined the hs shape and stripped off the amber clear-coat on the back of the neck & hs. I installed a Fender PV63 pu and a Kent Armstrong lipstick pu. Also has vintage Ibanez "heart-shaped" tuners and a bone nut. Updated hs face...
Nah, that's one of the cool things about guitars...you can do whatever you like and make them "yours". But give it a try sometime, you may/may not like it. Truth be told I only have 2 with black guards, one does and one doesn't. That's the fun.
