I picked up this beautiful Euro Spector from another Talkbass Member this past week.

I have two more models to go before my want list is complete. A ReBop or USA bolt-on... and a USA NS4.

That would be the Blade The Dakota Red finished bass is the Frankenjazz, the see-through red ash bass is my Blade.

Just got my SX 5er back from my luthier friend. It's been upgraded with Kent Armstrong pickups, Hipshot tuners and a Schaller bridge. He also took the awful fake vintage tint off the neck and redid it with a nice smooth lacquer. Pickups are wired passive, with series/parallel switching.

Ya know, just an idea, but if I had that bass, I'd throw in some Duncan QP Jazz pickups in the empty routes and use concentric pots to double up your controls. Wouldn't cost you much more and you'd get twice the sounds, and make use of those empty routes. Very cool mods, though, definitely.

The whole reason I had the mods done is because I don't like the positioning of Jazz pickups (or most bass pickups, for that matter). I'll be getting a new B/W/B pickguard to replace that one though, haha. Definitely not keeping the "electrical tape" look.

It's their basic bass but I'm just as satisfied with the sound as with a Musicman.

Basskid, give Jason Mraz a chance. Ive seen him live, and his band, and himself, are awesome. The bassist kills it, and lots of his songs have some good basslines.

I love the wood finish and the inlays.

Plus the curved body... it is such a comfortable guitar.
They are perfectly balanced as well, no neck diving.

And the action is to die for. Once adjusted for your tastes... and I like a low action, these basses are so easy to play.

Lastly, they sound amazing. The mix of EMG P/Js and the thru-neck construction... they have this amazing tone.

I know everyone says that Spector Basses are an acquired taste... but I think anyone who ever sits down and plays one will fall in love. I did. Over the past 6 months I've slowly sold off or traded my other basses. All I own now are Spectors.

Not to show off or anything, but because as much as I feel that Ferrari makes works of art you drive... Spector makes works of art you can play.

And my maple Euro matches the interior perfectly.

Are you gonna fill in that pickup space near the bridge, or add a pickup?
