Found my 1983 Precision plus bass after thinking it was loss after 26 years. Has less then 1/2 hour of use. Sat in a case in a closet and un-opened for nearly 26 years..... How common was the Seafoam green?

I'd have to play one first, they've really chunky necks, which probably wouldn't suit me.

Hey, if you really wanna know, pm 5stringblues. His is the one I played, magical bass. But I personally don't like 5ers so I didn't play it long. If I member right it was kinda heavy, but if it had a chunky neck I would not have noticed, necks have to be huge for me to notice if they are big. I would put it at about stingray5 neck size, if that's big or what. I believe that's about the size.

That can't be, I don't think, Stingray V's are 1-3/4" at the nut, and 17mm spacing, IIRC, and the RBV is 2" at the nut and 19mm spacing......

Would be fine, if its not fat front to back, but I greatly prefer 1-3/4" nuts, and 18-17.5mm string spacing.,

I meant fatness. I don't remember really any fat necks at the gtg except the warmoth jazz neck, and I was expecting a thin jazz neck and it was pbass thickness... actually quite nice.

Its a Roscoe Beck we're discussing, trust me, I'm interested.


I was actually planning on building one from Warmoth parts, if I can find pickups that will do the job, and I think I have a few options there, but I was gonna make it a block & binding neck.

The Warmoth options include a 1.75 nut, and their spacing is close enough to my taste.

Hmm... Well you're handy enough with tools. I say get 2 JJ buckers and make pup covers yourself, outta spalted maple or something cool! You should get it with 24 frets or something

Hmmm, 24 frets is definatly possible, only two frets from standard.

As for the covers, thats not the vibe I'd be going for, something like this, but the whole neck would be flamed maple, is what I'm thinking right now, maaaaaybe a mirror guard.

Here are some updated pictures of the family, and some solo shots. I love posting my basses, I have worked very hard to get to where I am gear wise.

( Its got a Hipshot A style, Drop D Xtender, and Sadowsky knobs )

I might be getting into a VERY well paying band in the coming weeks, so Im hoping to save for a Jazz of some kind. I miss slapping and bright finger tone, but my P feels and sounds too darn good to change!
