Ok so in Order:
1. Silvertone Apocalypse: bought it after my first bass got irreparably damaged. It works as a starter
2. Godin A4: I use this in my Irish band gets a great warm tone
3. Traben Phoenix 4: Tuned half step down, I use it for Coheed covers.
4. Fender Jazz 24: I don't put the battery in it, I like it passive better and I put a Kahler trem bridge on it.

looks really good up close,but doesnt match the sunburst body...perhaps if bass was natural would be OK...

are you sure that maple is the best wood for a fretless? i heard it was very soft and groove lines will be made with use.

Only two strings away from an attitude problem.
All maples are technically hardwoods, but depending on their variety, they fall into the medium heavy or heavy category when measuring the wood's hardness factor. Ebony and Mahogany fall into the Ironwood category (so heavy it sinks in water). Softwoods are those that make cones, so pines, cork, and balsa's fall into the softwood classification. There are lots of boring eye-glazing ways to explain wood density and strength, but in a nutshell, here's where you find a few of the more common fretboard woods in hardness with softest first:
Maples
Purpleheart
Rosewood
Mahogany
Maples
Purpleheart

He he he, I find it funny you focused on a poster rather than the guitars.
I can't remember where, I think it was in some random store which had nothing to do with music. They just had a whole bunch of posters. There is where I got most of the posters in my music room.

I think it's perfect... actually.
6 years of stainless rounds and it's barely scored. As many have stated and proven... technique has more to do with wear than string or board material.
That said, my board isn't untreated... it's been 'Acrylized'.
James Hart, I think your bass looks very nice. I've always wanted to try a maple fretless board. They're unique. How does it sound compared to ebony?

I have 2 other basses, but im selling them because they just done sound and feel as nice as this BTB...
Thanks. It obviously look better than the photo. So is the Yamaha, which has a pretty glossy ebony colour, but in the photo it looks completely black and dull.

God I'm jealous of this bass, never seen anything like it. I don't have much money to spend on equipment tho so I'm pretty much out of the high-end/custom instrument loop. Great work, would like to hear how it plays!
