I am looking for someone in New England that can do a great job refinishing my '85 MVP. It is as nice a flame as Mike had at the time (he brought me out his three best samples). I'd like to duplicate the Amber Burst finish, with the stronger highlights as in later years. I would also like to have the water slide of the era.
I am looking for a reasonable distance from Boston, since I would rather hand carry it.

It may be a bit far, but I worked with Mark Florio in Bethel Connecticut to refinish the fretboard on my 1990 Buzz and completely strip and refinish my 1988 Carvin LB90 Koa bass. He did a terrific job and at a reasonable price for both, IMO. He was a finish specialist at PRS before he moved to CT, and his work shows that pedigree.

Call him up and he can talk through the work you would want to do.

Curious if Mark used a UV cured poly coating... bringing him my Interceptor fretless in April for similar work... saw the timeline pictures; fretboard on the Buzz looks great!

My 97 MVP 5 has a hairline crack on the back of the head stock at the B tuner.
It was there when I bought the bass used a couple yrs ago. I took it to two techs who both said it was too fine to bother going after. One thought it might just be in the finish though I doubt I'm that lucky. But the bass is fine, I play it and really don't think about it.
Anyway, there is a 97 MVP 5 currently listed on Reverb with a crack in the same place (same 19mm spacing, same color as mine too, Vintage Cherry). You can see it in the picture of the headstock. Anyone have any experience with this situation?

Any idea where 12 noon is on the blue pot? (or is all the way counter clockwise = "7am" and all the way clockwise = "5pm?")... the blue pot does not make a full turn, but about 10/12ths of a turn.
