I dunno, I think most basses can make great slap tones as long as there is some sort of high end sound somewhere. IMHO, it just needs a nice bridge pickup and usually some active EQ.

I enjoy the Peavey Cirrus, Fender Urge, Kubicki Ex Factor, Spector NS-2, etc. In my personal collection, my Kramer is my personal fav.

Amp wise, a 4x10 is good to have to enhance the brightness. I bi-amp to a 15" sub for low B clarity. Overall, my setup seems to allow for brightness and warmth where it's needed.
