Not to blow my own horn but outside of the internet I haven’t encountered a pick hating bassist who I couldn’t play circles around, so I don’t concern myself overly much with them.

I consider it simple ignorance on their part and dismiss those who hold to such nonsense from my mind.
Anti-pick prejudice makes me mad! Fortunately I don't see it much, but when I do it really bugs me.
I need to learn to do this! That's my feeling as well, that someone that just repeats anti-pick prejudice (APP?) is ignorant of the history of the instrument. It's one thing when a non-musician says it, but when a bassist says it it really gets to me. I have learned for the most part not to say anything, but that doesn't mean I don't mentally type a scathing retort in my head!
I do agree though that a bass demo should include fingers since it does sound quite different than pick. I will also say that I used to be more 50/50 pick/fingers, but lately it's been more like 90% fingers for the music I've been playing, but I will always be a pick player as well.
Over the years, I've always seen comments looking down on playing bass with a pick. I never thought too much about it...
HOWEVER, I've noticed that whenever I'm searching for YouTube videos for sound samples of specific basses, if the video starts off with someone playing the bass with a pick, I'm immediately annoyed
I do what fits. If a pic fits better, I use a pic. If slap fits better, I slap.Over the years, I've always seen comments looking down on playing bass with a pick. I never thought too much about it, as I also play guitar and know pick-playing has its own technique that needs to be mastered and it's not any lesser than finger or slap or tap.
HOWEVER, I've noticed that whenever I'm searching for YouTube videos for sound samples of specific basses, if the video starts off with someone playing the bass with a pick, I'm immediately annoyed, because I much rather hear how it sounds with finger, and then slap. If pick is included, it's fine, but if it's only pick-playing, I can't help but feel disappointed.
I guess the main reason is I almost never play bass with the pick, so I don't really care how a bass sounds with a pick. But I have nothing against it--I do plan on playing some prog metal in the future, and a lot of that is played with picks.
Anyway, how do y'all feel about the obvious prejudice many bassists have against pick-playing?
