Yes, provided it is done in a thoughtful and considered manner, it can fine.
They need to go back to being made of wood again. That plastic they are made of now is fine for hosing off the walls when someone gets crazy excited or is just an @$$ and goes all over or tips them, but acoustically they are awful.
Explains why I've never heard it
We keep the word "woodshed" because "plasticshed" doesn't sound like anything anyone would do.
