The Sadowsky frets appreciation thread !

This is a thread of appreciation to Roger and crew for doing some of the very best fretting work out there on necks. Day and night difference between a Sadowsky and another production instrument I have. You know We really get spoiled with the highest level quality with these Sadowskys , once you go Sadowsky you dont go back !

MM, this is so true! when I got my P/J, I sat and played it unamplified for what seemed a few mintues (I think it was like 2 hours). The sound of each note is so clear and clean and true. Chords ring out in amazing clarity, with each voice speaking. Individual notes can carry so much more nuance, shaping lines in such musical ways.

Amplified, the tone has a multi-dimensional presence...

PERFECT fretwork is a big part of their secret, I think!!!

Yeah, the fret-job on the Sadowsky I've owned was great.
What Can you expect from a bass in this price range
But so are the frets from alot of different other companys...

I love Sadowsky's and its going to be my next bass I purchase, but one thing that bothers me about the UV70s' is the binding doesn't cover the fret edges like my Fender 75' RI does.

fretwork is flat out amazing. whether roger hisself or the doods/doodette he hires, he knows workmanship.

i've actually had a few of my guitars done at the shop before they became too busy to take in general repairs, and i still cant find anyone else in the area who does nearly as incredible a job.

I've never played, touched or even seen a Sadowsky other than seeing pictures here. If they play better than my MM or Jazz basses, I can't afford to fall in love with one.

Forgive me, I'm ignorant about the exact specs on these rather fine sounding basses!

Are you guys simply admiring the high level of craftsmanship (nothing wrong with that, btw), or are you referrring to a specific aspect of the characteristic/s of the fretwire used, or its' dimensions etc.?

I'm curious, because I recently accquired a bass (Wal) with possibly the best feeling frets that I've ever encountered and wondered why this was the case . When I (rather crudely :scowl: ) measured the height of them, I found that they were higher but flatter than those on my other basses.

If that's the case with Sadowskys too, it might partially account for the great playability (or so I understand) of these instruments (?)

Like I said, I'm just curious .....

for myself,

definitely about the craftsmanship. i.e. unlike other high end boutique basses i've owned, i've never had to have the fret ends reshaved due to drier colder weather. quite amazing actually.

I don't want to hijack this thread. But I just got a bass back that had very serious fret issues. I t has been treated at Plek (www.plek.com).
Now it is PURRFECT, too (just like my Sadowsky). Heads up to the guys ar PLEK!

Hmmm. I thought Roger and the crew were in NYC. Some of you guys have Metros if I'm not mistaken. Made in Japan to Rogers specs. How's that hat's off to Roger and the crew. I doubt the 8 of them are fretting the Metros.

Don't get me as anti Sadowsky, I'm more than likely ordering a NYC tomorrow, but if there is no difference, why not just shut down NYC?
