Cool build! I love out-of-the-box thinking. Excellent job recycling existing materials too! Bet you get some looks/comments with that one!

I've been considering using a P46 on a five-string build. You don't see many people doing that, even though they're advertised as compatible. Visually, it looks like the A string is sensed by both halves of the pickup. Does that cause any change in the tone for that string?

No. With the extra pole pieces the tone is very even all the way across all of the strings. With the fact that these are five string compatible, and the low price, it was a real no-brainer, and I'm really happy with tone. Scroll up and check out the mp3 I posted yesterday.

Now I'm not one to knock a fellow luthiers work, but I just don't get the appeal. He's obviously found a niche though, and is doing quite well filling it so who am I to judge, to each his own right? I just wish I had as big a following.

Glad to hear that. The clip sounds really good. I'm guessing a lot of that tone comes from whatever amp you were using, but it does sound pretty even string-to-string. Thanks!
