Good morning from San Antonio, TX

I've had a bass around in the house to goof off for approximately 20 years and had a couple of excellent teachers yet I've never had the dedication to be more than a good beginner...

I have a custom P-bass Franken-made from parts in Argentina (long story) that needs to just be thrown in the trash any moment now...

In any case, thank you guys for all the knowledge and fun reading y'alls posts.

In the meantime.... Does the Frankenbass really need to be replaced? Is there any chance of fixing it up -- or are you just eager to get rid of it?

Also, what have you been using for an amp? If the bass can be salvaged, putting some money into an amp instead might be a better option.

I have an Ampeg 108...the bass has nothing good, I feel I need to start from scratch...years ago when I moved to TX and started learning again and borrowed a Fender J bass from a friend I realized how bad mine was...
Will post the alternatives I am thinking in a new thread.

Before you send your storied bass to the garbage, send it to me and I will rock the snot out of it (and totally make up multiple stories regarding its origin).

"I had a one-night stand with a beautiful Argentine girl and this was leaning in the corner of her bedroom. The next morning I left her some dry toast and a twenty on the night stand and stole this bass." :cool:

As long as you're having fun and not hurting anyone learn at your own pace.

haha thanks for the welcome; i wish the story were like that....Actually i was broke and all I could get in buenos Aires was a body/neck of unknown origin to which I adapted some used pickups and a new bridge and used tuning gears...My problem is that the POS reminds me of bad times and is like an old frenemy of mine...
anyways, thanks again and I hope to eventually contribute a bit
