The world's hottest chili pepper

I ate a dried one of these in a man challenge on new years eve.

Don't do it. It's really fun for three minutes, then the burn doesn't go away for another 20.

Two of my friends threw up from drinking too much milk after eating them. I almost threw up from heat-induced hiccups.

edit* For reference, I've never tried really exotic peppers before, but I cook with fresh habaneros regularly. It was waaaay to much for me to ever do again.

I've eaten hot sauces north of 1 million SHU so I'm game.

I gave up on chilis for heat, I like them better for the taste. For heat though, I have a bottle of Mad Dog 44 Magnum extract that I've had for quite some time now. 4 million supposed scoville units. a few drops makes any chili deliciously spicy. I use it in almost every sauce I make. Even though it pretty much assures that no one else I know will eat it, haha.

My personal experience with the Bhut Jolokia several years back was pretty obnoxious.

My dad brought some from the North East of India, where it's originally grown. Realizing it couldn't be used for any practical purposes, we disposed of the bunch in a couple of days. But, in that short duration, the chillies filled the cupboard with an incomparably pungent odor that did not leave for months afterward :hmm:
