Jive,

Did you have all your mail forwarded to the cave you've been living in?

Jaws has been in the booth for the MNF games for the preseason. And they announceed this move months ago.

But agreed, I never liked Theismann. It's still not a perfect combination (I still like Madden and Michaels better even) but Jaws was a good pick.

Can't you just let a man enjoy a Theissman free football season?;)

I saw the news again, and it made my heart leap once more.

Well, my Niners aren't even getting the first team announcers on MNF.

It looks like Mike & Mike and Mike (Ditka) are calling the second game this Monday.

But then I'm just grateful that my team is back on MNF again. And two times this season.

The game I'm watching most closely this weekend though is going to be your Bears against the Chargers.

Now I need to get back to my Bears and their game against Colorado State.

I remember the joy I felt when I first heard about this. I thought I'd be free of Theismann's idiotic "commentary" forever. I was wrong.

I was out of town a couple of weeks ago when the Steelers played a preseason game against the Redskins. Naturally, when I saw that the game was being replayed on the NFL Network, I turned it on, only the be greeted by an oddly familiar sound that just happened to be Theismann on one of his nonsensical rants. Apparently he does the local broadcasts for the Redskins and since the game was being played in Washington, the NFL Network was showing that particular feed. I turned the TV off, naturally. It's not worth suffering through a Theismann-called game in the preseason.

Theismann's never bothered me that much. In fact, he adds a bit of comic relief to the game; in a "laughing AT him" sense, that is...

Paul Maguire on the other hand, gets deeply under my skin.

Madden's shtick is getting tiresome. Someone please explain the horse trailer to me. I mean, why a horse trailer?

I liked Joe Theisman.

I definitely prefer Joe over the two jokers from ESPN doing the 49ers game tonight. Mike&Mike are buffoons and will turn the game into a three hour circus of stupid jokes, idiotic songs, and more stupid jokes about how fat one Mike is compared to how skinny and wimpy the other Mike is.

My guess is Ditka chokes them both out by halftime and does the game by himself, perhaps having Jim McMahon call in to help him. :D

Now if only they can ditch Kornheiser...

The best by far is Aikman and Buck, IMHO.

Tirico is getting to me now as well.

I like how fast FOX grabs up recently retired players and puts them behind a mic. Sure, they miss on a few though. Some of the old NFL guys are great, but I also enjoy the insights from guys who have actually played with the players on the field.

Tiki Barber looks a little rough on NBC, but I sure hope he comes around. I liked him as a player, and I think he'll be a good TV guy.

Whoa, BigO left a mark on you there, uuuuh, caveman!

Tiki at least managed to avoid saying 'you know' every third phrase at least.

However, a proficient command of the English language has
never been a prerequisite for an NFL announcing career.
He may be overqualified.

Actually, I always thought Tiki was a class act, hope he does
well!

Yep.

I smiled to myself when he was making some comments on the Giants/Cowboys postgame, and he kept saying "we" when referring to the Giants. I'm sure he'll get over that, but not after the first regular season game after his retirement from a team he poured his heart and soul into for 10 seasons.

I paid attention to Joe when he was talking about one topic - Quarterbacks. He was a good one, and he knows quarterbacks. I didn't find him to be much of an authority on anything else.

Now if they'll just get Tony out of the booth...that guy is made for newspapers, not broadcasting. He stinks in a broadcast setting. I'd rather listen to Ditka any day.

Personally, I hated his commentary on that because that's where his self-importance really shows. All you hear about is what he would do if he were the QB. I can't tell you how many statements of his say, "Well, if were the QB". Most of the time he would state something really obvious, or something off-mark, or talk about himself.

I never liked him much but I really disliked him after his rant on the Dan Patrick show regarding flying the flag at half staff for Reggie White. Even after Dan read to him the US Flag code, he continued to rant.
