I was never a fan either. They do seem to have lost popularity here though...not that it matters.

I have heard (per Conan O'Brian) that most of their fans are white college kids....thats seems to be confirmed by the concert DVDs I have.

DMB is still around up here. They got popular with the "earthy" girls, so all the dudes around here jumped on the DMB bandwagon hoping to score with one of the chicks who liked DMB for real.

    Man, how standards have fallen.

  17. Standards aside, I don't see the connection. Do they improvise? Because I know I've seen their live stuff on MTV, but I don't recall. Even if they do, though, that doesn't make them any more "jam band" then weezer.

Well on most of their live CD's there are at least a couple of extended "jams" - ie a 20 minute version of Two Step or Jimi Thing with parts of other songs interspersed. They do seem to do some improvisation, but I wouldnt call them a "jam band" in the Grateful Dead sense - not that I would listen to them if they were!
