I don’t have the money at the moment but when I do, I’d like to find a nice 74 Jazz Bass reissue neck in RW w blocks. I had one but let it get away - on a very nice bass. Now I’ve found a body, vintage PUs, killer control plate, and I’ll be waiting for another neck (using a c). Unless there is an alternative.

Warmoth? Nope
MiM? Nope
Aftermarket licensed? Not that I’m aware of.
Japanese Fender? I don’t think so.
Used for sale anywhere in the world? Nope. I don’t think so.
Artist necks? I don’t know...?

I’d like an ebony with pearloid blocks, but rosewood would work.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced option or builder of licensed necks?

Really ideal would be modern features like the hex nut truss at heel, graphite rods, satin finish. Binding? Take it or leave it.

Help?

Unable to locate a allparts or mightymite 70s U Jazz neck.
i've purchased a fretless neck from allparts (nice neck!) but it was pricey compared to other vendors. i also have a mighty mite neck (fretless ebonol: very nice!), but i'm thinking the U shape might be a little harder to find from anyone but fender for a decent price!

i've passed over many of them in years past (while looking for Cs and Ds), but i haven't noticed any of them in recently...i wonder if they're now a specialty item?

anyway: allparts or stewmac would surely know how to get one or where to send you --- i'd call them both and see what's up! good luck on your search for the hefty neck!

@Sands; Have you ever sampled a Fender Classic '70s Jazz? It may not be a full-on "U" shape, but between the thicker front-to-back diameter and the 7.25", vintage radius it has a very meaty baseball-bat-like feel to it. The current ones are made with Pau Ferro boards, but if you can locate a '70s reissue made before the transition, you could part it out and score yourself a rosewood+maple neck.

Same neck on two, different bodies. Original Recipe…
