First let me introduce myself. I'm 21 years old guy from Belgium. I'm studying for an audio technician, my last year - next year I want to study musical producer (recording engineer, composer, producer - that kind of stuff).
I can play piano and keyboard (classically trained, since I was 6 years old). I also a synthesizer freak!
I bought a bass guitar last year, and started playing - I really like it, I must say! It's really a shame that I haven't discovered it earlier...
Now, I'm starting to develope an ear for bass sounds, and I can say that the bass that I've bought (Ibanez SR300) doesn't sound that spectacular (well, it's enough for practicing). I use Toneport UX8 for effects.
Still being a quite noob at bass guitar gear - what will be the must have bass? I suppose it's a standard 4 string P or J bass? What brand should it be - Fender probably? I'm willing to spend 1500 euro. I'm pretty serious about it, so I would rather spend more money on a very good instrument, rather than buying dozens of cheap ones. A good sounding instruments motivates you to play more, IMHO btw.
I like funky stuff (Flea) - I already can slap random grooves - I like this slap technique a lot.
I also like very dirty, warm and phat (vintage) bass sounds.
It's not for now, cause I would like to develope more technique first, so I could really know what I'm looking for (probably 2 years or something).
