Mods are all well and good, unless they're done by people who should never have access to tools of any kind....

New body wings could be grafted back on, the massive hacked out holes filled, and the bass refinished.
Good for a project, maybe build a double neck or make it into a 5 or 8 string.

Definitely not a job for amateurs, however!
There's already been enough amateur 'work' done on this bass.

The most I would pay would be $50 to $100 with free shipping. That is about the only Ric I have ever seen that I think is a lost cause. Maybe fill it with maple, refinish it Jetglo, and track down all the hardware. MAybe Ric5 could save her life!!

I agree. I would actually like to repair that instrument. I could fill all those holes and refinish it in black, and have it looking pretty again. But $199 plus $50 shipping is just ridiculous.

No, it's not just a piece of wood.

You should try to drive a bunch of scrap metal, plastic, glass, and rubber to work. Then you can explain to your boss why you're sitting on a pile of raw materials playing car instead of doing whatever it is you should be doing to make him/her money.

Pretty pricey firewood if you ask me. And you sir are spot on - at least here. There's a certain point when things can't be salvaged. That Ric probably can, but in my eyes, it's just scrap wood now. If anything, it should be made into a lamp.
