This blows my mind every time.

Yeah...that was the downfall for me. I liked when each deck was unique. It was like art. I once got 10 blank decks for under 100 bucks and sold them one at a time on ebay for 25 bucks each. Turned a nice profit, I did! They are all made by the same place with the same shape and concave. No fun!

One of my pals makes experimental/custom skateboards to order. Has his own presses and stuff. I had him experimenting with exotic woods a while back. Not to ride, just to look at! I never got the money together to try a Buckeye Burl bottom board!!!

Some of the cheap blanks are b-grade, gotta be careful. Those snap right away if you don't land bolts. Longboarding has board evolution going on like street skating did from the mid 80s to early 90s right now. Only I think that it will go on a lot longer and might never end. With street skating, the board now is just about perfect for almost everything, just down to preference on width. Longboarding has so many different types of riding and materials. Carbon fiber makes sense with longboarding, doesn't at all with street.

Man, dude was my hero back in the day when I used to skate. As inept as I was at everything else skateboard-wise, I actually managed to pick up a few of his flatland moves, but nowhere near as fast or clean. He's been my favorite skater since the first time I saw him.
