Double Bass This is a weird one.

I'm slowly making the transition from EB to my NSCR5M. My question is........when playing pizz., what do you do with your right thumb. My natural inclination is to rest it on the side of the neck as an anchor, but it's a long stretch over to the g string. Floating my hand above the neck feels kind of awkward too. Is there a proper position? Or is it a whatever feels and sounds the best situation. Just wanted to see how you folks have handled it.

i guess theres no "proper" way, its a NS and you have to learn how to hold that spaceship in a way thats comfortable to you.

i think most of the time the knuckle on my thumb would be sitting on the very edge of the neck and my fingers would reach over to the highest string

if youve got a high C i would recommend you use as much surface area ie "meat" on your fingers to pluck the string as fingertips can get too twangy with a thin string
