This is the first time I have ever seen a ‘51-‘56 P-bass style instrument with two single coil Precision pickups in a Jazz Bass style arrangement. It sounds good too!

An excellent lesson in pickup placement (in terms of where a pickup sits determines what it 'hears'), and the that's a Full Growed Man playing it.

One bass I would not use a balancer on, the night and day difference between the two, plus the two of them summed, would work great with a Tele control plate with the pickup switch, not to mention it would just look right.

I actually saw one of these with three pickups (the third just off the end of the fingerboard) wired like a Strat.

2. Did anyone notice that right before the main beat kicked in, the G string was hanging off the neck like it slipped out of the nut? And then it was magically fixed? The wonderful world of editing.

Loved Charlie. Very underrated. Looks like he subbed a J pickup for the bridge, though. Barry Dunaway, who plays in 38 Special now, has a bass with an SCP and a J, too.

How much of that spank comes from the head, speaker and EQ?

I have always felt that a SCPB would be enhanced by adding a bridge PU.

I'd also like to see a SCPB with the two pickups in the Ric spots. That would sound cool, too.
