This is getting rediculus

The economy is bad .

I'm actually worried about my part time music/CD/record store gig.Things are really slow.We have decent used starter guitars & basses priced at $60 to $80 and people are looking but not buying.People will try to get you down on the price of a $1 LP or a $2 CD.I don't know how the owner keeps it going.Any high ticket instrument we get goes on Ebay but we hate doing that.We have had damage problems from shippers(Yes,we do pack carefully) and a lot of Ebayer's buy without really knowing what they are doing.Craig's list we have tried and that really brings out the whacko's.

I know guys & gals who work at the big gun(GC/SamAsh)stores and they say their biz is off by at least half.

People just don't have the cash now.

If something doesn't doesn't sell it's because of one or both of two things.

1. It's not priced right for the market.

2. The buyer doesn't have confidence in what's being sold.

No one wants a mint starter guitar that retailed for $300 for $50?

Maybe it`s your latter point, but even I think that`s hard to believe.

Anything will sell if it's priced right. The definition of value is how much you can get for it. Therefore, if you have no serious inquiries, you're priced too high.

- Write a good, descriptive ad...be a salesman, make it sound wonderful!
- Be meticulous with spelling, punctuation, etc.
- Include pictures!!!!!!!
- List pluses and shortcomings

And if the ad doesn't generate traffic within a week, put in a new ad at a lower price. All my Craigslist sales have come from responses that happened within 3 days of the listing going up.

I'm still out buying all the time. I check CL every day for Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego.

Like everyone said, if the ad isn't meticulous with great pictures, good spelling and an actual attempt at grammar, I assume the product was treated with similar respect.

I'm in sales and you only get one chance at a first impression. If I open an ad and see a crappy cell phone pic or no pic at all, I'm out. Even if it's something I really want, I won't bother, bargain or no bargain.

As previously stated, $20 buys you a larger buying and direct audience on TB! Join us, try the punch.
