I'd like to buy one and take it my jazz lounge gig - just to see the (old/conservative) pianist's face
Ha! My first gig as a bass player was in a soul/R&B band with a horn section. I was the only white guy in the band and I was playing a red explorer shaped bass. I also dressed like I was in Duran Duran.
It looks like all you would need to make a suitable copy of that shape is a Flying V and a bandsaw.
Bass Guitar mag has reviewed a couple of different ones and the reviews are always positive. Apparently they are VERY long and neck dive can be an issue. They seem to sound really good though.
