If you’re looking at Cort, the Cort Elrick NJ5 is a phenomenal bass at that price point. Great electronics and the best neck/fretwork you’ll find.

I don’t know if I will find somewhere that I can check out a Cort GB Modern 5 or the Cort Elrick NJ5 that is close by. I will likely just order one if I go that way. I will go back and re-listen to videos of me playing fretted MetroExpress Sadowsky’s. I think the two is awesome on my fretless, but I remember it being a bit harsh on fretted basses unless it only very lightly used.

i bought a GB modern 5 new. had it for about a year and a half. when they say open pore finish, they really
mean it. it's like at best an oil finish.
