I would say that the majority of folks look upon this pair as home invaders and rapists, not possessors of a certain skin pigmentation.

As many others have mentioned, I think these punks got off easy, and are quite lucky they aren't dead. I'm certainly not an agressive person, and certainly not physically threatening, but if you invade my house and/or harm my family in any way, you will see a VERY different side of me in a hurry.

Tony, for the record, the punk that pulled the knife on me in my little story: white kid

Punks and @$$holes come in all colors and flavors.

It really sucks when people want to make this into a race issue, because it ISN'T a race issue. It's an @$$hole that doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as your or I issue.

yeah, let me clean this up....

I was not referring to anything or anyone who posted here, or the story itself. Only the people who post on the original site and on other news sites who turn these stories into "black people are the scum of the earth" stories. I tried to make that clear in my orig. post. Really don't want to threadjack

In my opinion, the criminals got what they deserved! I have no sympathy for them. They made a choice to break into a home and rob a family at gun point. Those people were no doubt in fear for their lives. Next, one of them decides so try and sexually assault one of the women. This is now an additional thing she will deal with the rest of her life. She as well as the rest of the family had every right to fight back. I hope if found guilty, the judge throws the book at these two.

Mac. I can see your point, but I don't think this is the reason why the media posted their pics. I think they posted their pics to show that they got a little poetic justice in the process. The pics illustrate the beat down that occurred during the delivery of this justice. The recipients of said justice just happen to be black.

Mak, I feel you, and the normal, super-reasonable Chris would feel the same way. But the Chris who has been sucked in to one-too-many user comment wars (and one is one too many) and has had one too many sales jobs (one is one too many) can just see the people who work the news site seeing the pictures as a great opportunity to get more hits

I agree. I'm not denying that the media loves to feed into the stereotypes to get people worked up. This leads to great ratings, sick as it may be. Now did they have other stories that were similar to this, but not as juicy (i.e. the hog tied recipients of poetic weren't black, or of some other kind of racial minority) and chose to run this one because it came with pics of two beaten black kids? I'm not sure. It's wrong, but let's say they did. How much energy do you really want to waste on this garbage? Word of advice my friend. Don't get sucked into those stupid comment wars. It's a complete waste of time. We've all done it, and we all come to the same conclusion.
