Thomas Miller's Sound - Symphony X

I'm happy to see some other people here who love his playing here There aren't many around, and he's playing greatly surpasses his "famousness".

Anyhoo, how does he get that dimmed fretless-like sound? I believe the best song to demonstrate that sound would be The Edge of Forever.. I haven't found any info about him, his rig or technique, so I can't say that he used a fretless for sure.. Maybe it's just eq and his technique, or maybe he uses a comressor and a slight chorus, I haven't got the slightest idea.
