Thoughts on Ampeg B2R head?

My local shop has an Ampeg B2R 450W head on closeout for $320. Seems like a good deal but it would be my first venture into big stuff. I am just a little shy about pulling the trigger as all of amps, so far, have been craigslist $40 jobs. I am in a band and we are planning on starting to gig in the summer so I need to boost my gear up a bit.

is very nice head and for a good price new, i think is a b2-re as it has 450 w, I had a b2-r I did like it a lot for a ss head, reminded me a bit of the gk , but it still retains what some call ampeg sound and is warmer, instead.

I've got a B2Re and it's a pretty good head...much better/louder when pushing 4 ohms ...I use it as my backup and only got it because of the infamous Musician's Friend $49.60 blooper a while back....If you're playing loud rock the b2r might not have enough headroom...for $320 I'd certainly try and talk them down with cash in hand or better yet save another $50-100 and get a used LMII or III...twice the amp with plenty of headroom...they're in the classifieds here regularly and on ebay and cl as well.
