Recently, I've been getting into Styx and their basslines. In my opinion, Chuck Panozzo was great at holding a solid groove, but most of his basslines are very simple. Thoughts?

I agree Matt...I grew up with Styx and loved their melodic rock. The Grand Illusion album had a lot of good basslines. I always thought he was a decent player.
I always liked "The Serpent is Rising" (1973). Catchy songs, naughty lyrics, and indeed some very good bass lines by Mr Panozzo. 
Thread resurrection: The band I recently joined plays three Styx songs and I am loving his bass lines. Catchy, fun to play and works well within the song. Definitely my favorites of the set list.
He kept things uncluttered and played to the song. My only gripe I had was how he was mixed in the background and was a "felt" and not "heard" bassist on many of the tracks.
