Thoughts on genz benz uber 410 (4ohm)

aka ub4. I think these are circa 2010 give or take. bottom port. 45-18k +\- 3db, neo drivers, 1000w, 4ohms, spl 103db.

any thoughts or experiences? i can get one at a ok price in what looks like good condition. I would not be able to play before buying it, but i know and trust the buyer.

reviews i see say things like clear lows, punchy mids.

any experiences vs an orange obc410, markbass 104 standard hlf?

That's a great cabinet, all parts are still available for it too.

Be sure everything works correctly, not damaged and that it has the original drivers.

I can't extensively comment on the 410, but I do still own my Ub212 that I purchased new in 2010.

The entire Uber Bass line was excellent. I remember playing the 410, 1288, and 212. I ultimately decided that the 410 was a little more than I needed. I remember playing a G&L L-2500 through it. I think it was powered by a Shuttlemax 12.2 or maybe a 9.2. It had a very tight low end response. I went with the 212 because I liked what it had going on in the mids but in all honesty I would've probably been just as happy with the 410.

I think it weighs maybe 10 pounds more than the 212 but the 410 is still plenty portable and has higher power handling.

What do you intend on powering it with?

I have the 2x10, 2 15’s, and a quad. They are my favorite cabinets and I’ve had a bunch. Any combination of cabs sound wonderful together. I love the 2x10 and I am waiting for another to pop up. If it’s clean I can’t imagine you’d hate anything about it besides the heft.

I missed out on buying an 8x10 Uber from Guitar Center because I wanted permission first. Never again. If I see one, I buy.

The 810's were packaged with the GBE-750/1200 and commonly used as a touring rig for larger venues. It was a heck of a system, but also quite expensive.

Didn’t see this thread earlier but glad your Uber 410 arrived! It’s been my favorite 410 since I got it from Genz Benz 15 years ago. Not super light by today’s standards but lighter than the Ampeg 410 I replaced and easy enough to load, sounds great and incredibly well made. I’ve used it with SVTs and of course my GB Streamliner and it always sounds great.

i have yet to do controlled formal a/b comparisons. the closest competitor will be the markbass 104 hlf standard as similar power, spl, neo drivers, both have great sounding tweeters. the uber already wins the look/feel/build contest.

my impression playing with different options so far is that it is my current favourite cab. mid focused, tight lows, without harsh highs which is very much my thing.

Not to re-hash an old post but researching some Genzler stuff has brought me here in an indirect way. Been playing bass since 1984 and have gone through literally dozens, if not hundreds of amp cabs\heads. Several years ago I bought a 3.0 Shuttle with the 10 and absolutely loved it. Money issues forced me to sell it a while later but I never forgot about it. Then I see the new Genzler heads coming out and after mulling it around in my head for a few months I finally pulled the proverbial trigger and picked up a Magellan 800. Plugged it into a GK 2X12 and 1X15 and OH MY GOD! You know that bass tone you hear in your head but can never replicate it? Well I found it. Then a few month later ran across a used Uber 4x10 for around $700 and took the plunge again. I have to say this is total bass tone nirvana! The absolute sound I couldnt get from my GK's, Ampeg's or even my Mesa was now in my music room! Now I havent used it live yet but I dont think its going to be too heavy to throw in the back of my Bronco and head to a gig. As a matter of fact I'm now on the hunt for another 4x10 or 1x15 to pair with it. Also got an order in on the Crashbox and re\eq to add to my chain that includes my Cali 76 and Noble preamp. So to answer anyones questions concerning the Uber cabinets...or any other Genzler\Genz Benz equipment, don't even hesitate. After 41 yeas of playing, THIS is MY tone!!

As I stated earlier I’m a huge fan of the Uber series, it was love at first note. I currently own 2 15’s, a 2x10, and the Quad. They are all wonderful in their own right. My favorite of the cabs alone is the 2x10, for every gig I run the 2x10 and 15. I find the 15 to be more of a midrange rich cabinet where the 2x10 has more thump down low and a slightly scooped kind of tone, the marriage of the two is sonic bliss. I’ve had them painfully loud and they showed no signs of distress. The Uber Quad and 15 offers a very flat and full response and it also gets crazy loud, playing has to be on point cause mistakes come through loud and clear.

If you find your tone is the 4x10, I’d suggest either a second 4x10 (the nuclear option) or perhaps find a 2x10. The 2x10 will absolutely hold its own at rehearsals and it is much easier to schlep around. The 15 would alter the tone you’re hearing but it won’t be bad, just more full and possibly less punchy than the 10” equipped cabs would be. I’m on the lookout for another 2x10 so I can have a modular version of your cab, or I can use 2 2x10 and 15 stacks should I need to go nuclear!

As a matter of fact I'm now on the hunt for another 4x10 or 1x15 to pair with it.
