Haha modding a RoadWorn seems so counterproductive!
I gigged with my RW Jazz the same day I bought it. Three long sets playing 50-s through current songs. The bass is fine. Looks great, plays amazing. I used a plain Jane Fender strap.

Just noticed GC online listed a used Road Worn bass in sunburst.....FOR $900.
I thought they were asking a lot for the Fiesta P I was interested in...(sheesh)

Road Worn series started in '08, IIRC. I've had one since 2010, and got another in '12. They are both showing minor unique wear. Once they are '49 years old, perhaps we can compare "properly."

That would be something nice to see at the summer NAMM show. The big bass reveal at NAMM last month was clearly the new American Vintage Series basses. But some new colors / options for the Roadworn basses would be most welcome should Fender pursue it.
For the '57 Precision, I would LOVE to see a Mary Kay white version. And I'd also like to see a '62 Precision with the rosewood board in 3TSB as well as black.
As for the '60's Jazz? I'm not sure what other colors would be cool. But for my own tastes, ANYTHING other than Fiesta red would be a nice change. Personally, I'd love to see black and/or sherwood green.
Played four songs tonight with acoustic guitar, hand drums and a singer who also played violin. The jazz bass does it all and fits the look of our ragtag bunch. I'm really happy with this bass.
The setting was our community center, 120 people and a PA. Played through my Hartke 4x10 and someone else's Hartke amp.

A 60's Jazz with the old style knobs in LPB with wear spots of fiesta red like Herbie Flowers bass would be prime!

The new color idea is interesting. My vote would be for an Olympic white Jazz, and a 3tsb P-bass with a rosewood fingerboard and "pepperoni" pick guard. However, I don't think either will happen, as they would compete with other offerings.
I was impressed with sunburst rw jazz I played the other day. I loved the finish (relic work aside,actually doesnt matter to me) but I love basses with nitro finish,they just resonates better. The bass were light,playable and well constructed. would go for one anyday.
A friend of mine snapped this pic of me using my roadwork P. It has quite a bit of extra wear and it still plays like a dream.
It's been more than 2 months with my RW jazz, so far I am very, very happy with it. Played it at gigs and in studio, it just feels and sounds fantastic. I've replaced the stock pickups with a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity II. Can't really say it sounds better now, but it definately got more of that vintage vibe now. But what made me really happy is; I put those stock RW pups on my Squire Vintage Modified Fretless and that was a dramatic change. Now it blows me away.
Haha I have that Squier VM Fretless bass too! And if I changed anything it would be the pickups also! That's Squier Fretless is what inspired me to look at the RW Jazz, I've never had a rosewood board before, it's really nice.
Hey Stew, just saw that pic. Except the GK head, that's almost the same rig I used 2 weeks ago, before the mods I've mentoined. Strap too
Between the switches, did you also noticed the VMF sounded brighter and louder.

It is the 1.75" width at the nut type P neck. Wide, but flat/thin front to back. Pretty accurate repro of the old "C" necks, IMHO—but not exact.
