Hey all. Anybody have a Behringer bass v-amp? I just ordered one last week from AMS and my wife called and said it got dropped off today. I have a coffee shop gig coming up and don't wanna drag my Ampeg rig and figured this might work well. Plus, my practice amp at home crapped out and I thought this would make a decent headphone practice amp too. Seemed like it got decent reviews on Harmony Central, just curious if any TBers were a fan. Thanks !

Thoughts on the Behringer bass v-amp

I have the non-rack mount version (which is what I'm assuming you are referring to).
It works just fine as a practice amp. Anything else, and it's sorely lacking, in my opinion. Specifically:
- When using the foot pedal to switch from preset to preset, there is a noticeable "pause", which is ridiculous, IMHO.
- It's mostly plastic, which would concern me for live use (or for any situation in which I would have to carry it around a lot (in case it dropped or got stepped on)
- The effects are pretty weak, IMHO.
- The foot pedal is well constructed.
- I have honestly yet to own anything with the Behringer name that i liked.

Behringer = cheap. I have a $60 Behringer practice amp which is just dandy for my apt... but I wouldn't use one for a gig, based on the "quality" I see...
I used one for a couple months 2 years ago when I was lugging around a rack rig. It had usable enough sounds, but overall was very noisy and had a tendency to 'breath' when it was sitting idle regardless if I was using any kind of modulation effects, or noise gate.

I have a used the rackmount "guitar" V-Amp for about 3 years, and I love it. I am able to dial up a wide variety of sounds that work well in all situations. (I do also go through an EQ, and a Sonic Maximizer)
Cool, thanks for the replies. By no means am I expecting it to replace my Ampeg rig, but as a headphone practice tool I think it'll be just fine. I'll check it out through the PA tonight and see if it will be ok playing a coffee house next month with an acoustic act.
I have two of the Bass V-amp Pro units that I bought to use with my Chapman Stick for an inexpensive setup...but the extra rack space required didn't make it as economical as I would have liked.
Still, I have them around and use them with my bass as a backup in case my Ampeg preamp fails. The other one I use for practice at home. The sound is ok - not fantastic. They are tweakable though so you'll be able to get a decent sound out of them.
